MM family!
Things are hopping at Stanford this week and next, and I thought you'd all like to know who is there, and what their status is!
Lee (lsuvia here on the site) is 2 days post-op. Her first surgery went very well, she looks
FANTASTIC
, and is in good spirits. She's looking forward to a Saturday or Sunday discharge, and will then drive home to southern California with her husband to prepare for surgery #2 in a few weeks.
Keith (21 years old) from Louisiana has been here with his mom since early in the week and has had several days of testing. His angio was today (everyone's favorite . . . not!) and, aside from some nausea, came through just fine. His first surgery is on Tuesday, 3/14.
Yassi (runity here on the site) arrived here from Tennessee with her parents yesterday and started her round of testing today. So far, so good, and (though nervous) she is looking forward to surgery on Wednesday, 3/15.
The Rineharts (cass/kate) arrive in town on Sunday for Katie's 6-month follow-up. We're so anxious to see them and, gosh, doesn't this all sound like the makings of a gathering??? (Trina, I think you said it best when you announced, "For a group of people afflicted by this terrible disease, we have
way too much fun!" ) We'll be trying to coordinate everyones' schedules to see if we can get something together.
Lastly, there is another family from Tennessee with a 13 year old daughter who will be coming late next week for surgery. They had the unfortunate experience of receiving a diagnosis from a reputable hospital, but being told there was nothing that could be done (have we heard this before?). The parents started their own research, found this site, and consequently Dr. Steinberg.
Please keep each of these families in your thoughts and prayers. I know they will appreciate it!
