Lydia has date for surgery
May 18th, 2006 at 7:48pm

Hi folks,
Have not posted for awhile, been very busy with new job promotion and moving house. I do pop in now and again to check news on this site.

Lydia now has date for surgery, 10th July, we are having a holiday in spain just before to take her minfd off it.

They also dicovered she has a heart murmer and she is due an echo scan prior to surgery.

I know it will be for the best as apart form Lydia major stroke on left side, Angio/mri have shown up multiple silent strokes....Interesting thing tho, is that the MM  vessels are really profuse on the left side of brain but  are not showing up on the right side of brain, however its the right side that had the major stroke, find that odd!!!!

Anyways, Hospital say its important she has surgery to reduce risk of furthe stroke, wether it will improve her tia s and learning in school, who knows.

Stll cant help feeling nervous, hope it all goes ok. Lydia is my only little girl and my world, so this is such a nightmare for me. Still all on this site are in same boat.

off to bed now, its late in UK nearly 1am!!!! and Im in work at 8 tomorrow. Time to switch off

Night night MM ers xxxxxxxxxxxLou

Hi Louise and Lydia!

How I feel for you!
I know you are scared and nervous for your little girls brainsurgery but actually I haven´t heard of any surgery that went wrong and it IS necessary to have the surgery to prevent future problems from this disease.
My Louise (now 10 years old) had her surgery more than 3 years ago and I still remember the feeling in my heart when I left her to the doctors in the surgeryroom deeply asleep. Like it was yesterday!! It was my worst nightmare ever but everything went well and I am so happy that day is all behind us.
Wise thing to plan a nice vacation right before surgery! And remember that you are probably more scared than she is, it is always worse to be alongside than to be in the center - you are sooo helpless.
Me and Louise will be thinking of you 10th of July and I am sure everythin will be OK.
Take care !

Love,
Annica

Greetings Louise and Lydia,

You'll definitely be in our thoughts and prayers.  Speaking from a mom's point of view, surgery days are indescribably long and painful, but it's obviously for a good reason.  Your MM family will be with you both in spirit!  We're approaching the second anniversary of Tara's surgeries, and it's very joyous for all of us.

Please keep us posted, o.k.?

Big hugs from California,
Jill

Hi Louise and Lydia,

Just a quick message to say I'll be thinking of you, Lydia and your family on 10th July.

I've just passed 10 years since my second lot of surgery. My TIAs definitely improved afterwards. I no longer have any full blown episodes whereby my whole left or right side of my body would go heavy and numb. I hope the same can be done for Lydia.

Have a lovely holiday in Spain.

Best wishes,

Roz

Louise and Lydia-

You will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers when you go through the surgery!  Wish I could take another trip over the pond to see you and support you through the surgery but just know that we'll be thinking of you and send our love and hugs!

Good luck!

Hi ya Louise and Lydia,

Just found this mesage after posting on UK bit. I really do know just how you feel. Amber is my only childs and my whole world too. She came out of the first op at GOSH, on her right side(Stroke took out her right side) jumping out of the cot-she has been great. Everyone was lovely and the scar is very neat. This next op on Friday is on the left side to limit the damage I guess. Very scared this time even though it all went so well the first time!!! Then the long wait to see how well it does. The postings here have helped restore some hope. Will se thinking of you both- Enjoy Spain.

Im taking a guess that the side where there is lots of mm is coping better with the block than the less mm side-pure guess?????
