Moya Moya and Graves Disease
Jun 20th, 2006 at 3:56pm

Wondering if anyone has any insight or experience with Moya Moya and Graves ? Diagnosis was recent (3 weeks ago) after two strokes. EDAS was scheduled at Columbia with Dr. Feldstein for the 1st week in July but it looks like it will need to be postponed since the Thyroid condition is not stabilized - big cause for concern. There might be an allergy issue with medications - don't know where to turn ???

Dr. Scott in Boston says there is some correlation between Graves and mm and also Hashimoto's hypothyroidism and mm.

hi davbrown,

i'm actually not too sure about any connection between graves disease and mm, but i did want to share with you that i was diagnosed with mm last year and had a double by-pass and an indirect last year may.  i was also diagnosed with thyroid cancer (papilary carcinoma) in 1998 and had a total thyroidectomy.  therefore, along with my many other meds, i take synthroid on a daily basis for my thyroid.  if not for the mass, my thryoid was actually normal.

please keep us updated on any new info you may hear regarding this.

take care,
shan
