Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
Sep 11th, 2006 at 12:16pm

Hi All,
I went to see my neurologist on Friday 09/08/06 and the check-up was good. He told me that the last MRI that they did on 08/04/06 showed no new stroke or new narrowing. I had the right side done on 05/15/06. I still get the headaches and the paralysis, he told me that is to be expected and not to worry only if new things start to happen. I am being followed at Mass General Hosp. in Bostn, Ma. They want me to start Riboflavin Vitamin B2). They told me that studies have shown that B2 helps the headaches. It will take 3 months to work. Is anyone taking this? If so, what are the results, if not I will let you know the outcome in 3 months, I have not started it yet, will do that this week Smiley

I was put on 400mg of B2 a day about a year ago and it has been a miracle for me.  My local neurologist started me on it and I have to say I was a skeptic at first!  I used to have headaches every single day of my life and now have maybe one or two a month.  Believe it or not, I have trouble finding it though.  GNC has been my best resource although some health food stores carry it as well.  I hope this works for you!!!

Help, fast, please!!!  I go to the doctor, tomorrow - Tuesday, Sept 12 - afternoon for a mm check-up.  I forgot all about it. Embarrassed  Can u guys think of anything I should ask him?  I was thinking about asking how constricted my carotids are and any other veins/arteries off the circle of Willis.  Any ideas will be appreciated.  Thanks in advance, Rhonda

Rhonda,
my first question would be how he thinks you should treat it, then how restricted you are and a millionj other questions. by asking the questions you will find out how he feels and his knowledge on Moyamoya, Dont play games, All the experts seem to agree that a moya moya patient is a timebomb for a stroke

Rhonda,
I agree. You need to ask all those questions. Before I was diagnosed I had a minor stroke on 04/04/04. What a date ;Grin For 2 years I was suffering from headaches and paralysis as well. I did not suffer any damage, I am o.k. The narrowing was getting worse and they saw this and never told me, I was diagnosed in March of this year with MM. Don't fool around. This is your life and live Smiley I was lucky. Still scared, but as they say "take one day at a time" Roll Eyes
Hope the appointment went well, look forward to hearing from you.

Chelise,
Thank you for the post. I was confident about what my neurologist told me. Anything is better than taking pain killers when some of the headaches were probably rebound headaches ;Grin They told me that I should see a difference in 3 months. I am sooooooo looking forward to it!

I just got back from the dr and  he said everything was fine.  He said my occlusion wasn't any worse than 10 yrs ago when I had my surgery.  He also told me that he had been using my case and xrays (without my name) when he had to give talks on  stroke.  He had the film of my circle of Willis on his power point presentation.  Thanks for all information and support.  This site is wonderful.
