Hi firefli66,

I looked here on the website in the section,
Surgeons with Bypass Experience
and I found one neurosurgeon from WI.  Dr. Bermans Iskandar - U of W - Madison, WI. The only way we know a doctor has experience in treating MM is if they post it. But it’s been our experience that MM specialists’ who deal with this disease on a daily basis are far & few, so many people send their films for a second opinion or travel out of state to a MM specialist. Dr. Steinberg is the MM specialist from Stanford, CA and Dr. Scott is a pediatric MM specialist from Boston. If you’re interested, all the information about these doctors and their e-mail addresses is under
LINKS
, in the right hand top corner. This website has a wealth of information.

If we can be of any help, please don't hesitate to ask. No question is too small.

hey firefly, where in wisconsin are you? I am on the eastern end of MI. U.P. we looked into Mayo in Minnesota, and I also found out recently that a surgeon that interned under DR. Scott (boston) and Dr. Meyers (mayo) has transferred to U Of M Ann Arbor.......if we were not 3/4 of the way to having robert set to go to stanford ....and  had U of M not missed the MM in Robert for more then 3 years....we would be considering him..........Good Luck, hope this helps.

Hi firefli,
I live not too far from you in Delafield, WI!   When I was diagnosed with mm after having a severe stroke in 1997, I was at St. Lukes in Milwaukee with a neurosurgeon named Dr. Ahuja; he had only seen mm one other time in his medical career.  At that time, (in the mm dark ages) he told me to wait & have another stroke rather than have the surgery!!  (at that time, my doctor thought the surgery was believed to be worse than having a stroke... nothing could be further from the truth!!) Instead of following his terrible advice, I was scheduled to go to Mayo Clinic for the surgery but my guardian angels were working overtime & I found out about Stanford & Dr. Steinberg.  I had both my surgeries there in 1998 & totally believe that is the absolute best team of mm doctors & staff in the world!!!  With almost 200 mm surgeries, they've seen it all~

Maybe you have already decided to go to Stanford... I only found your post today.  Good luck in whatever you decide~~ email me if you want~~ I'd love to talk to you or maybe even get together. (My son was just in Burlington last month to see a haunted site!)  I have been on disability since my stroke but I'm doing all right.  What symptoms do you have?  Have you contacted Dr. Steinberg or sent your x-rays for them to see?  They are really fast in getting back to you with their expert analysis. Hope to hear back on how you're doing~~ deb
