Ahhhk!  An Earthquake in Hawaii!!!
Oct 15th, 2006 at 10:19pm

Aloha All...

Leave it up to Moira to check up on me!!  You are the sweetest!  Yes!  I felt it this morning!  I thought it was my dog scratching herself next to my computer desk because everything was shaking!!!  It was quite scary as I've never experienced this before!!  AAAHHHHKKK!!  This couldn't be happening in Hawaii!!

Anyway, it's been crazy here, but we finally got our electricity back.  All Islands were out of power!!  We were listening to the radio and people were calling in trying to find out where they could fill prescriptions!  The hospitals were saying they could only fill "in-patient" prescriptions!!!  It's a very scary thought....

This only goes to prove that we MUST be ready for emergencies like this.  You always hear about it....

I'm not sure if Jan in Kauai has power restored to them yet.  It's amazing that this was State wide!! (including ALL islands separated by the Pacific Ocean!!)

Thanks again, Moira for checking up on me!!!

Much aloha to all of you!!

Take care,
Shan

Hi Shan,

Glad you are alright!

I haven't heard from Jan and am wondering if she is ok.

I have friends that are on their honeymoon in Hawaii and I heard last night they are stuck there. I'd like to be stuck in Hawaii! That would be real tough to take. LOL! I think they are stuck because of cancelled airflights but not sure. What I don't know is if they have been allowed to get off the cruise ship or if the cruise ship could even come into port.

Anyway, it was good to hear from you and I'm glad you are ok.

Hugs,

Lore

An earthquake is definitely more of a California-style thing, and one of the few downsides of living here  Undecided.  I'm sorry one occurred in Hawaii.

Lore, Jan is just fine.  I spoke with her a couple of days ago and all was well with her.

Shan,

Glad to hear that you are safe. Hopefully everything is starting to return to normal.

Fortunately/Unfortunately, I had the privledge of experiencing an earth quake when I live in southern CA (1994 if I remember correctly). Scary at first, but the after shocks started to become....we played the guess how high on the richter scale the aftershocks were.....(we were young and stupid back then).

I was misdiagnosed with MM in March of 2005. In January 2006, I was told it is not MM, but rather a massive restriction in the MC1 segment of my left carotid artery.

Fortunately, I've never been in an earthquake.  I'm glad to hear that you are ok, Shan.  I was thinking about you.  Please keep safe and drop me an email sometime.  Smiley

Hey Shan,

Sorry I haven't had a chance to talk with you.  I've been so busy...running around like a chicken without a head.
And yes, I felt the earthquake.  I got up about 15 minutes before it happened.  Alan went out to the living room to watch football so I decided to turn on the computer.  Next thing I hear is a rumbling (like a semi passing on the highway) then i started bouncing up & down on my office chair.  It was kind of "fun"...felt like bouncing on a trampoline.  Nothing major happened on Kauai, only thing was we didn't have cable until later in the evening.

Lore, thanks for the "buckeyes", they were delicious.  Hope you enjoyed the mac nuts.

Reason I've been so busy is because I went back to Stanford on 10/19 and returned home on 10/27.  Had a good report from Dr. Steinberg.  So far all of my tests have shown really good results.  I won't have to go back unless I have complications. Smiley
Of course, that doesn't mean I won't be going back to visit.  We (my mom & I) made a lot of friends when we were there in April for my surgeries.  We made more friends when we went back for my follow-up.  It's so wonderful to have a great support group.  It really doesn't make you feel so alone.

Aloha,
Jan
