Marks 2 year visit to Stanford
May 3rd, 2007 at 8:52pm

Hi all,

Just thought I would share some news from our visit last week to Stanford.  This was Mark's 2 1/2 year checkup with Dr. Steinberg.  He had a Xenon test and a CT Angio test on Friday.  Then on Monday he had a MRI, Doppler and Blood tests for the Genetic testing.  After that we met with Dr. Steinberg and Jolee.
The news was terrific.  Mark was given a direct bypass on the right side and an indirect bypass on top of his head to revascularize the frontal part of the brain.  The right side has been under watch to see if there will be any progression.  Dr. Steinberg told us that the bypasses are filling in nicely and that the blood supply looked real good.  And I think the best news was that there was no progression on the right side.  And that he was pretty confident that it might stay in check.
I can tell you as parents, Lisa and I just about lost it because we were so happy.  I hope all of you MoyaMoya patients stay positive and believe that this can be taken care of and controlled.
We were able to spend a bit of time with Jill, Campbell and Tara as well.  If you haven't met this family your missing out.  They have been terrifc to us and have helped us through the last couple years as they have been ambassadors to every patient that goes to Stanford.
We also met a family from Kentucky.  Tara and Nick's daughter Haley is 4 and was scheduled for first surgery on Tuesday.  We had dinner with them and the MacInneses over the weekend.  Haley is a pistol and hopefully will get through the next few weeks fine.  Take a minute and say a prayer or think about them.

Hope all is well with everyone,

Ron

Thanks so much for the update. That’s wonderful news!! I loved reading your post, it's the best part of being here and what this website is all about.

You bet little Haley will be in my thoughts and prayers. She couldn’t be in better hands.

Yep, I have to agree; those MacInnes’s are truly a blessing. They were very good to my family as well. Their support and friendship meant the world to us and I too am proud to call them friends.

Again, great news! I pray Mark has many more good checkups to follow.

Hi  Smiley Ron, Lisa and Mark,

Great news Mark!  Way to Go! Smiley

Three words:  FAB U LOUS! LOL! Smiley

How did Mark do with the lovely Xenon gas?  Smiley  You know that is Cubbie's favorite test. LOL!

I know you guys are relieved and simply on cloud nine and I am with ya! (doing a happy dance  Smiley) This is simply the greatest news.

Sorry I missed you guys this year.  We could have gone to Chili's to celebrate Mark's good news.  I know Jill, Campbell and Tara took very good care of you guys.  They are the greatest!

I miss you guys and it was really good to hear from you.

Hugs,

Lore
