Muscle Cramps / tired muscles
May 9th, 2007 at 7:57pm

Hi everyone,

Lately I've been experiencing a cramping in my right toes, and experiencing a tired feeling in my right calf and right hand. Has anyone else had these types of symptoms. Please note that this is NOT a paralyisation or a numb/tingling feeling....it is a tired/cramping feeling. Its just interesting that it is my right side, when my blood flow issue is in the left side....makes me question, question and question....

Interesting thing is one doc thinks it related to the blood flow issue. The others think it is anxiety related to thinking about the health issues. The put me on xanax and the problem goes away for a few hours and comes back latter. I will say that it is the lowest possible dose of xanax and they are toying with increasing the dosage.

Thoughts? Comments?

Thanks,
Greg

I was misdiagnosed with MM in March of 2005. In January 2006, I was told it is not MM, but rather a massive restriction in the MC1 segment of my left carotid artery.

Greg,

What is a mother to do!?

Laying all jokes aside, let's start with Xanax.  It is used to treat anxiety disorder, panic disorder and anxiety caused by depression.  It may also be used for purposes other than these.

One thing that bothers me about your situation is it brings back bad memories in that Kevin's blood pressure went sky high and the ER said it was anxiety and gave him anti-anxiety meds and he later stroked. Not once but twice. The anti-anxiety meds masked the problem.  Sure his blood pressure went down once they gave him anti-anxiety meds but that wasn't the real problem.

As for the muscle cramps, weakness and toe symptoms, it could be poor circulation or narrow or blocked arteries and based on your medical history, IMO, and I'm not a doctor or clinician, however, blockage in the leg arteries can produce aching tired and sometimes burning/cramping feeling. You don't necessarily have to experience numbness to have stroke like symptoms.  Read DJ's story.  He talks about how his fingers wouldn't separate.  IMO, your symptoms are serious based on your medical history with the stenosis/blockage and should not be taken lightly or is it anything to mess around with. Also, the right side controls the left side. You mentioned you have this stenosis/blockage in the brain. It is a known fact if arteries are blocked in the neck or brain, a person may have a stroke.

You have to be your own advocate and I only want the best for you. However, IMO, enough is enough. You have many different medical opinions and you are still having problems plus new symptoms. If I knew I had a blockage, stenosis, narrowing or whatever in my brain and symptoms like you are experiencing in your leg, calf and toes, I would be all over it and I would not waste another precious moment doing something about it. I went through multiple opinions with Kevin and to the point Kevin almost died. Thank God Kevin got to a MM specialist just in the nick of time. You may want to do the same and get an opinion from a MM specialist who has dealt with MM over a long period of time and who knows this disease well and who has perfected the treatment options over time.

Greg, I am very concerned about your particular situation and especially with this recent set of symptoms.

Keep us posted on any new developments.

Hugs,

Lore

Lore,

My doctors are concerned about the sympotmos because they only occur in periods of HIGH stress. hence the Xanax.....calms me down and no problems.

With that said, I am awaiting for a call back to confirm my test schedule for
    1) CT- Angio
    2) CT -Perufsion study

Both of which should be this week. Doctors want to chekc that stenosis is not getting worse. Two drs say no to the by-pass type surgeries....one saying a cerebral angioplasty/stent may do the trick....but has never performed the procedure on a person with a stenosis as long as mine.

Once the tests are complete and results back, I will be meeting back with Dr. B and Dr. Marshall. Hopefully with good news....but am definately pushing forward.

Other than that I can say that I feel great.

Thanks for the concern
Greg
