It's been really crazy around here.I was in the hospital for aobut a week.On dEc 5th I was eating chicken and started having sudden sharp pain everytime I swollowed. We went to the ER and X-Rays didn't show anything.I knew I had swollowed a chicken bone. They sent us home but the sharp pains continued.By morning the pain was gone but my throat was swollen and I had a really ahrd time swollowing. My neck began to swell too.The next day(Friday) My chest was hurting and my throat was swelling more and my neck was swelling too.Went to my PCP he sent me to an ENT right away. The ENT couldn't see anything in my throat and decided I had Acute Thyroiditis and gave me antibiotics and setn me home.Saturday morning my chest hurt so I could hardly breath,I felt so horribl I couldn't even dress myslef and my swelling neck was now looing bruised, the antibiotic pill the ENT gave me got stuck in my throat.I wnet back to the PCP and he sent us to the ER.At the ER they did a CT of my neck and chest. I had ruptured my esophogus and was bleeding into my neck and chest, it was building up around my heart and lungs, and was spreading an infection. The rushed me to a bigger hospital and did an emergency surgery.Cleaned out the infection and some blood, gave me 5 units of blood, and put a drain in my neck.I spent a week with a feeding tube and drain. All of this over a very tiny chicken bone so small it didn't even show up in tests. What a wake up call this has been.I'm so thankful it wasn't one of my children. And thankful that I kept going back until they did the proper tests to figure this out before it was too late. I'm so glad to be home now and getting stronger.I may never eat chicken again, which doesn't leave much because I don't eat meat either.I will also be so careful how I eat now, careful not to rush.I'm going to try and catch up with all the new posts but it may take a while.Hug your loved ones, life can change in such a short time.I hope everyone has a wonderful healthy Holiday!!!!!!
