A year ago today
Jul 17th, 2008 at 7:33pm

Hi everyone:

It was a year ago today (July 17th) I had my first surgery (which was a walk in the park compared to #2). #2 was a year ago July 24th and that one was a b*tch.  But all in all, I am doing really well and everything seems to be fine and I am thankful everyday for the treatment I received and for all of the wonderful people whom I have met over the last year +.  I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

It is amazing what can happen in 15 minutes or in a year that can impact the rest of your life.

hugs to all
Sandi

Hi Sandi...

I know what you're saying, the same went for me, the first surgery went really fast and easy, but the second surgery took a while longer and I had a little bit of complications with the anesthesia.  Nonetheless...all is well now.  Made my two year anniversay in April.  Wishing you the best with many more years to come!!

Aloha,
Jan

Hi Sandy Smiley

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

I would rather have posted balloons and fireworks but I didn't see that on the smilies collection. LOL!

That first year is a milestone and I know it is a great feeling and sense of accomplishment. You have done extremely well.  You are an inspiration to all and here's  Smiley to many, many, many more anniversaries to celebrate.

Hugs,

Lore

Thank you guys!  It has been a year for sure.  Last year at this time I was not only having my head examined (LOL), but I was awaiting the finalization of my divorce.  This year on the anniversary of the left side surgery, I will be having dinner with my new boyfriend who is a dream come true.  Funny how God has his plans and we have ours....his are always better Wink

Love you all

Congratulations Sandi on your 1 year anniversary!  ;Grin  Also happy to see your dreams coming true in other aspects of your life...  Yes, I do believe that when one door closes..another one opens, and although we may not believe it...He doesn't give us anything we can't handle.  You are a woman of great strength.  Wink

Again, congratulations and many blessings to you!

Take care,

Thanks Linda and Jack...check out the photo album...I have our picture on there!  It was so great to have you there when I was looking my best - LOL.  My friends still can't believe I "let" my mom take pictures.  Can anyone out there back me on the fact there was no "letting" going on.  Like I was going to fight her on that one.

Actually, I think the fact she documented it was great.  It is what it is, puffy face, bad hair, black eyes and all!!!

We will always have Stanford Wink

Yeah, um Sandi, I've been meaning to make this post.  I'm sorry to be so late - was definitely there with you in spirit as you celebrated your first big surgery milestone.  Congratulations!  That one year is huge - I remember well the elation we felt with Tara when she hit hers.

Watching you go through your surgeries (and yes, I'll attest to the fact that there was no "letting" going on!), seeing you at your 6-month post-op appointments, and then again in Vegas . . . wow . . . you've come SUCH a long way, and I'm so proud of you!  You managed to maintain an incredible sense of humor through thick and thin, and are truly an inspiration to all of us.

This new boyfriend . . . I want details . . . time to spill!!!

Big hugs,
Jill

Hi Jill:

Thank you so much for the kind words and even more so, the support both you and Tara provided when I was there!  I remember calling you from the hotel room, anxious and unsettled cause I couldn't speak and felt so restless (so all of you that may read about how great I handled this....I had my moments!)  You were such a reassurance to both me and Mom.

I don't know if I ever told you, but on the drive home that Wednesday....after stopping in Burbank for gas and failing to communicate to Mom how to get back on the freeway, she pulled over on a surface street and asked me if I could drive - I did for the remaining hour home while Mom prayed the whole way.  Funny how some words came out clear as a bell during that drive (God forgive me!)  That night I slept like a baby!

Anyway...thanks again for everything.  As far as the new boyfriend, he is awesome.  He loves my scars and the "chunky monkey" pics from the surgery era (and I thought that was a face only a mother could love).  I will send you a picture. (He lives in Nor Cal - so if things work out, we could be neighbors). Tell everyone at Club Stanford hi for me and if you see Patrick Swayze, give him my best!  What a trooper!

Love ya
Sandi
