Topamax!!
Sep 5th, 2008 at 8:44pm

Hello All,
I have good news. I was getting headaches and right sided paralysis quite frequently. In July my neurologist started me on Topamax and it seems to be working for me. The headaches have stopped as well as the paralysis. the severity of both have diminished as well. This is all good.

I hope that this may help some of you. It is worht a shot. The good thing about this medicine is that you can increase the doseage. I am on 50mg in the am and pm. Side affects are going away. Thank goodness/

Let me tell you that it is well worth it. Good luck and hope you all are doing well and hand in there. Keep smiling. Smiley

I was taking 25 mg topamax daily for my headaches, but recently increased to 50 mg and that seems to work better for me.

The side effects of topamax can be a little less mental clarity (fuzzy brain) LOL....but hey....I blame that on the MM...anyway!

Hugs...Diane : )

hi laura,

great to hear that you found something that is helping to alleviate your headaches.  i used to take dilantin, then another medication (sorry, can't remember), and then tompomax.  i think i had side effects with topomax and dilantin.  what kind of side effects are you having/had?  right now i'm taking neurontin.

thanks for sharing the good news!  Wink  it's always great to hear that someone is doing better.  Smiley

take care,
shan

I loved Topamax!!!! I was on 25mg a day then went up to 50mg. Then my new insurance decided to clasify it as something I can't remember making it $80 for a month of it so i had to switch. My migraines have now but all subsided everyonce and a while I still take Fiorcet. I am soooooooo HAPPY you found something that WORKED!!!
Take care

Hi Shan,
Some of the side effects I was having that are going are going away are pins and needles in the arms and legs. Not too bad. Sometimes I get a little unsteady on my feet. They are going away.

Why didn't they tell me this 2 yrs. ago!! Undecided Trial and error I guess. I hope this helps you. All I can say is that the pros definately out way the cons. ;Grin

Keep smiling and always stay positive. I always tell myself that there is unfortunately someone worse off than you. Especially someone here  Cry

Keep smiling everyone.

ah so the Topomax is the key? I wanted to go off of medicine someday... but I have been ong 100mg for over a year now and I feel pretty good. It then makes me a fraid to consider going off. I want to be free of the condition and even go work/study abroad. Is this not possible? Do we have access to this medication overseas?
