ABNORMAL EEG Test Results?
Dec 2nd, 2008 at 2:33am

Aloha All,

I know it's been a while since I've been here--and I'm sure many of you may be surprised to see me posting.  Well, I 'hemmed and hawed" and felt that if truly wanted to seek other's opinions/thoughts/experiences with their EEG tests, then why not go ahead and post?  Undecided Nonetheless, to cut through the chase, I recently received not-so-good news from my neuro's office that my recent EEG Test came back "abnormal."  That's all I was told (as "the official report is being dictated.").  Has anybody else received "ABNORMAL EEG TEST RESULTS?" Quite frankly, after searching online, I'm a little, okay a lot, freaked out right about now!

Please--if anybody else has experienced this, please let me know.  It'll surely help shed some light.  EmbarrassedTake care,Shan (islandmoyamoya@yahoo.com)

p.s. Hope y'all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Our blessings will ALWAYS outnumber our trials.  Wink

I'm glad you felt you could come and get some support and even some advice.I wish I had some advice for you but Kathleen's only had an abnormal EEG right after surgery.Have you been having symptoms that warrented the EEG? Do you have an appt. to go over this with your neuro? I would certainly expect this to be explained completely by my neuro. And boy looking things up online sure can FREAK you out! Wish I could help you ((((hugs))))) and prayers....keep us posted.

Shan~
I can't speak directly to your medical question -- from my own experience. I hope you get answers soon.

I do want to wish you well and offer support.
I've hoped you were doing well and am sorry to hear about the abnormal EEG results.

thanks for your responses!  as always, it's soooo good to hear from y'all!  Wink

i asked the nurse at my neuro's office, and she said that she can't send me the report "because it hasn't been dictated yet."  Sad  she said my neuro read my results from my EEG at the hospital, and all she can tell me is that they were "abnormal."  thus, i have another EEG this friday at another hospital.  only difference is this one is a Sleep Deprivation EEG.  does anybody know what the difference is (aside from not being able to sleep the night before?)  Undecided  i am going to try my best--usually i'm knocked out way before 9 p.m.!

as for the sypmtoms you asked mary grace, i have been having severe headaches lately.  i told my neuro that i've been taking the 200 mg of neurontin in the a.m. and p.m., but i find myself also taking tylenol extra-strength too!  he recommended that i see my PCP for a 'pain specialist.'  Lips Sealed   but the main reason for this test is that my neuro was considering taking me off of zonegran (anti-seizure med) since i told him that i haven't had any seizures pre/post op (or none that i knew of!)  Embarrassed  unfortunately, a new medication i am taking has potential problems with zonegran.

i wasn't aware that one could have seizures and not really know they were having them.  the neuro tech that perfomed my EEG told me that seizures could come in the form of headaches, sense of smells, de ja vu, etc.

well, thanks again!  and thanks to those of you who responded privately.  Cheesy i appreciate it just the same.  Wink

wishing you all a safe & happy holiday season!

take care,
shan

Hey shan,
My molly had an eeg and she had siezure waves the doc said was abnormal, i think it is a term(normal) they were in her sleep. the other test has to do with how your brain responds to sleep depravation. I here the waves are different with different with different disorders, like bi-polar. that is about all i know. Are you on siezure meds? or is this what they are seeing? let us know what you find out!
