Destin's surgery
Dec 23rd, 2008 at 7:10am

Destin had her surgery yesterday at Shands with Dr. Stephen Lewis.  He did the EDAS procedure on the right side.  Things are going well.  She's still on lots of pain meds and is very swollen but all that is to be expected.  If anyone is near this area and is looking for a doctor and hospital I can recommend Dr Lewis and Shands.  Everyone has been wonderful. I am so Happy to hear that Destin is doing well. For me as soon as the swelling went down I was told I inproved alot. It is nice to have another doctor get the thumbs up. Is Dr. Lewis's infromation in the "Surgens with bypass experence" section so others in the area can find him?
I will pray for a speedy recovery.

It's great to hear Destin is doing well after her surgery.  My daughter had her last April and is doing wonderful.  Just give her time for the swelling to go down.  It took Annamarie about 2 weeks for that to happen but she was feeling great after the first day.  I'll keep you both in my prayers.  You couldn't have gotten a better Christmas present this year.

Keep us posted on her progress.

Love and prayer,

Margaret

Becky...he's on there now! Thanks for reminding that I needed to do that.  I would hate for someone looking in this area to miss him.  I think Freckles listed him on the site but it was a while ago so adding him again gets him on the first page.

Well done Destin.
Well done Dr Lewis.

I hope you had a fantastic Christmas with your new found oxygenated blood (a bit of moyamoya humour). I am so happy for you, the only way is up from here.

I'd be interested to hear what Destin is feeling (pain, relief, energised, etc) because Luca is so young she can't tell us and she also recently had her surgery.

All the best

Mark (Luca's Dad)

....tired with intermitent burst of energy,  feels like she has a constant headache but it is managed with percocet.  She is relieved to have it over and looking forward to feeling better.

We are only on day 5 after the surgery so she is still pretty medicated and she is still fighting nausea.  Since she had the EDAS she dowen't have the immediate benefit of blood flow...we have to wait 3-6 months I guess.

I'm so glad Luca is doing well...hope she continues her speedy recovery.
