itchy incision
Mar 16th, 2009 at 12:46pm

Was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone and what they did for it. My daughter had her bypass surgeries last nov. and she constantly complains of itching on her left incision. She says it feels like bugs on the side of her head. I think it must be hyperactive nerves but am not sure and also not sure what I can give her if anything.

I may not be much help, but I can say she is not alone. I have been having itching around my incision and all around the plates that stick out some. I am 1 year post op. I wouldn't say it feels like bugs but it does really itch and when I scratch I always feel like I'm digging at my head for no reason. I just chalked it up to nerves from the surgery. It will be nice to see others inputs.

you are not alone. Iam 5+ years post op. Mine itched untill I got my stapels removed and a few weeks after. Whenthey said I could shower i did and that helped my itchies. I tried to not itch it because it would only make it worse. I hope this helps!

When my daughter had her surgery last June Teresa said her head could itch inside for quite awhile.  I can't remember the exact amount of time she said but she said that Emily's head may itch from the inside.  It takes a long time for everything to heal up.
