how many people that have MM also have a vascular birthmark?  Just in my small town I have known several younger people that have had a stroke (no MM dx) and also have a vascular birthmark.  I guess I am just curious.  I was born with a huge vascular birthmark.  This isn't a medical article or anything, just got me thinking about the birthmark again.  I will probably wonder about it until the day I know it's proven it is/isn't related in some way!  But as always, everyone's opinions are much appreciated!  Have a Great Day!

I am not sure what a vascular birthmark is, but Shelbi has several tan birthmarks. And I had always heard that if you had 5 or more of these birthmarks like hers that it was a sign that there was something going on neurologically.

My daughter has NF1 (Neurofibromatosis at birth) and a sign of that is multiple cafe au lait birthmarks of a certain size.  She also has a rather large birthmark on her chest.  Her brother also has a similar birthmark on his chest but no MM or NF for him.

My daughter Mara has a vascular birthmark on the inside of her thigh. I always wondered if this was related to the Moyamoya considering it is a vascular disease as well. It is something to think about!!

Hey thanks everyone for the responses!
Mandy, I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one with the vascular birthmark!  As you said, it is considered a vascular disease...and I have always wondered about a possible connection.  When I was born my entire left leg was covered with it, to the point my parents were told I was born with a birth defect, but only about 1/4 is now (around my knee).  It has been puzzling to me, so I tried to look up MM research to see if there was any connection, but I did not find one.  I still wonder if there is some connection, since vascular birthmarks are not that common (as far as I know).
God Bless You All
