The Faces of Moyamoya - Got one to share?
Jun 8th, 2009 at 9:09pm

Hi All  Smiley
I'm creating a T-Shirt and cap to be sold to help raise awareness of Moyamoya Disease. 100% of the profit from sales will be sent to Stanford to fund Moyamoya research. I'd like to include the faces of real Moyamoya patients on the shirt.  If you have a picture to share and would allow me to use it on the shirt, will you please send it to me in a Private Message. I could use any old portraits from the internet, but think it will mean more to all of us if the design incorporates some of our own faces. My plan is to create a design that reflects the fact that MMD effects people of all races, ages and both sexes. Thanks for the help.

I would love to help. My daughter is 2 years old and adorable. She would make a nice tee shirt. Is it o.k. that the picture is in black and white or do you want color photos? Just send me your email address. Danielle Cool

Wow, thank you for the wonderful response! My email address is Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register. Black and white photos are fine. I'd like to have a representation of all races, adults, children and infants, both male and female. After all, we're an equal opportunity disease  Wink.

I'll not be able to use all of the photographs on the shirt, but I would like to post each and every one of them on the website where the shirts will be sold, MoyamoyaAwareness.com (Don't look, it's not yet up and running). The purpose of the site is simply to raise funds for research. All of the products I can produce for that purpose will be sold there. Can you also briefly describe the person's moyamoya journey. I'd like to post that on the website with the picture and/or include it in the enclosure that is sent with each of the shirts.

I believe they can find a cure for this disease. A neurologist from the Netherlands gave a presentation that told of how in his clinic they do not do surgery on children who have had no stroke and who test for the presence of the chickenpox virus as they so very often see the occlusions in their arteries disappear over time. Chicken Pox - can you believe it? Now that was a surprise to me! There is so much yet to be learned and so many differing opinions. We need to keep ourselves informed.

Thank you again for your help.

If I actually remember one day to bring a picture of Luca to work, I'll forward it to you.

Well done, Kim. You can put me down for a few shirts and caps once you're up and running.

Thanks, Linda. That is a great photo! It's the first picture I've received of an adult. I need more photos of adults, both men and women, teens and boys too - don't yet have any photos of teen or little boys. I want the shirt to send the message that the disease effects all races, all ages, and both sexes. I need lots and lots of pictures.
