Dr Steinberg did my surgery and I did not stop taking aspirin until the day before surgery.  I usually take the aspirin at night, so I did not take it the night before surgery.  My surgery was not scheduled until 1pm.  Other that that I took the aspirin every day.

We were told to take my daughter off her aspirin for 2 weeks before her surgery. I was very nervous about it but she did fine. She was only 7 months old at the time so that may have had something to do with it.

My daughter's hematologist mentioned that a week before any surgery she should stop the aspirin.  But, we are a week out before her pial synangiosis and when I called Dr. Scott's office I was told that they feel it is better to keep taking the aspirin until shortly before the surgery. Probably the day or so before we will stop.  So maybe the old thought on halting a week or two early has changed.
