EMS surgery only? (Read 2593 times)

masonsmom New Poster Offline I Love MM.com! Posts: 43	EMS surgery only? Jul 10^th, 2009 at 11:47am Is there anyone who has had only the indirect surgery?? (EMS) Or no of anyone who has only had it done without the direct surgery too?

Reply #1 - Jul 12^th, 2009 at 3:52pm My daughter only had the indirect. Her blood vessels were too small for the direct. she 14 when she had hers done last December.

Hello, My 2 year old daughter also had just the indirect bypass on both sides. I remember hearing that they usually do the indirect on baby's and children because there brains are still growing and the new vessels form like a vine. I don't know if that is always the case. It has been a year and a half since surgery and her blood flow is good. Danielle

Skay5709 Junior Poster Offline I Love MM.com! Posts: 60	Re: EMS surgery only? Reply #3 - Jul 13^th, 2009 at 11:23pm I had EMS surgery in 2004 on the right side at the University of Iowa Hospitals. I have had only one TIA since then. When I need to have more surgery I will go back to them.
