My Wife had surgery completed last November 2008 on her Right side - STA-MCA and went very well.  She had a follow-up testing completed in May to ensure no further presentations on her Left side.  Results came back clear at that time.  This past weekend she had symptoms on her Right side.

I understand it's rare to only have Moya Moya on the one side, and that it's also progressive.  Has anyone had a similar experience with it progressing this fast on the other side?

For almost seven years now, I’ve seen this disease progress extremely fast with some MM members and sometimes slow with others. I think that’s one of the scariest things about this disease, we just don’t know the rate of progression or why it’s different for some.

Dr. Scott, a leading MM specialist words it this way: The rate of progression is extremely variable from patient to patient, however, with some patients experiencing a rapid course with many strokes over less than a year, and others a slow and desultory progression which may take decades to evolve.

The fact that this disease is progressive and the risk for a stroke/hemorrhage comes with it is why treatment is so vital, until we get some of those answers.

I hope and pray all goes well with your wife and that she gets the treatment needed before any further progression.
