I am looking for addtional information as my 34 yr old son recently diagnosed with MM doesn't think there is any prob. with his continued drinking.

I have stressed that he needs to be completly frank with his team about his lifestyle so that they can treat properly and he advises that he has been.  He says no one has said anything about his drinking.  I find that hard to believe, but he is at least reading the info I am giving him off MM.com.  I have also seen some of the info about kidney issues which have developed for some, which also can't be helped by alcohol consumption.  I have asked him to bring home his test results so that we can seek confirming opinion.

His surgical consult is today and I was able to give him the surgery definitions and surgeon's questions from this site.  Thanks, DJ!

I am blessed to have found this site.

I asked my neurologest what he would recomend. I was told to enjoy a drink every now and agian. Don't drink to excess and never drink when i am taking medication that says don't drink, becasue it is a blood thinner. Also Acohol will dehydrate you and that is also bad for MMers. My recomendation is to ask his neourlogest.
It sound like you are doing the right thing in trying to get him to read more about this. Knowlage is power to a healthier person (with or without MM). Getting to know what you can and can't do could save a life.

I agree with what Becky has said.  Talking to his neurologist is a good idea.  I have always been told to avoid medicines with blood thinning properties and on this basis drink wine in moderation at home and rarely drink when out as I find beng on guard for potential problems spoils my night out  I don't need to drink alcohol to enjoy myself and find you remember so much more the morning after.  Smiley
