Similar symptoms?
Oct 16th, 2009 at 8:39am

Hello Friends,

I’m disappointed … after 3 months relatively quiet, it seems that Paula is staring to have episodes again. Now, they are affecting both feet and both hands at the same time, she only says that they “hurt”, and she is dizzy sometimes. Has anybody experienced this canges in symptoms? Have your Drs told you the reason? What they are? TIAs? Migraines? Seizures? I’m getting crazy, we were so happy …. It seemed that surgery had been effective but now, we don’t know ….

You should definitely have her evaluated by her neurologist.  It is odd for the symptoms to be appearing on both sides at the same time if this is a TIA.  Although I have had problems with numbness on both sides, never at the same time.  She should probably have an angio as well as an EKG to narrow down possible causes  i.e. seizures vs. TIA's.  If it were migraines she would probably have more classic migraine symptoms like being sensitive to light, etc.  Have you tried taking her BP when these "spells" happen?  It could definitely be related to low/high BP.
Good luck and you will remain in my prayers...God Bless YOU and give you strength at this difficult time! Cry

It could be from being overly active. I know I hurt when I do alot and over exerted my self so close to after my surgery. I would deffinatly record the incidentes to talk it over with her neurologest. Like what was she doing before she complained of the problem, what time of day was it, how long did it last, what was done to help eliminate the issue (ex medication or rest)... That is what my neurologest sugested while waiting for the apointment. Please keep us posted with her progress.

Hi Paula,

Your daughter's symptoms could be from any number of things, even something as simple as not being well enough hydrated or being over-tired.  Since I'm not a doctor or nurse, I'm not equipped or qualified to make specific recommendations . . . other than to be sure to speak with your daughter's neurologist and to keep tabs on what is happening (as I'm sure you do).  Her local doctors may need to collaborate with her neurosurgeon here in the U.S. - hopefully they're willing to do that.

Hoping you get some answers soon!  You're in my prayers.

Smiley Jill

Hi,

Thank you very much for your support. Paula had last week a stomach virus; she vomited a lot last thursday and she is not eating very well (now she has diarrea), I don't know if this could be the cause (she is very tired, not perfectly hydrated,...), but the problem is that the first episode was two days before starting with vomits, then, I' don't know .....

It takes my attention the symptoms now, I know that in MM symptoms change with time, but now they are different: just before the episode starts, she cries without any reason (as she was depressed) and then, once the episode finishes, she is extremely excited, talking a lot, very happy, it is very strange for me this suddenly change in her mood during the episode, it had never occured before ...

I'll try to ask her neurologist but the problem is that Paula is the first person with MM that she has followed ....

Hi,

Thank you very much for all your support. I have contacted Dr. Scott and he told me that these episodes don't seem TIAs at all, he says that they could be related with small seizures, but it's doubtful aslo ... We'll have more information when the MRI is made next month .... If the episodes were seizures, we would really be more "relaxed" ....

I'll keep you updated on her progress.

Thank you so much.

I hear where you're coming from Paula. What do you think the seizures are linked to? Has she had high temperatures? Possibly a virus?

Thinking of you guys

Hi Mark,

She had a stomach virus last week, but not high temeperature. It could be related to not being well hydrated, but the problem is that she had the first  episode 2 days before she started vomiting ...

Thank you so much.
