Other than headaches what other issues should we expect from our 16 year old son post op? We are very lost at this point and are looking for others experience as well as anything that your surgeons have made you aware of. There are lots of unanswered questions at this point. Thanks!

melissa,
It is difficult to say because everyone is slightly diffrent. I had headacks and I slepted alot for a week then my activitys increased. My husband said I didn't use my hand I that was effected by my stroke in that week. I could go the the bathroom by myself but he didn't let me shower without him closeby for the first week. I sugest renting some movies or play video games like final fanitcy.

He may feel just fine and want to do alot. just let him know it is okay that he is healing and may not be able to do it all. Example i went grocery shopping in week 2 and i was exausted, even though i was doing more around the house(laundry, dishies and some cleaning), i took and little nap then i ws fine. Two days later I wanted to go shopping and I was fine.

Take it easy and naps are good.
Hope this helps,
Becky

Since the surgeon had to cut through muscles that work the jaw I had numbness and needed to relearn how to chew. This lasted less than a week as I remember.
