6 month check up
Jun 1st, 2010 at 1:39pm

Hi All
Josh had his 6 month angio post op last week, we have not seen the doc yet he has one more mri/cvr study ,we see the doc in late june but the doc that did the angio told me they did not get the results they wanted from the surgery ....by what was seen in the angio !!!! I honestly thought it was a huge success , his headaches have almost totally diminished , since having the right pial stenosis, his energy is still not 100% he gets tired easily, just wondering if anyone has been thru this what to expect in the next little while ??

Your not alone. My Six month post op angio was mixed reviews. My neurologist said my STA-MCA was not as successful as they hoped but they were not expecting that part of the surgery to be my answer, that is why they also did the EMS at the same time. The EMS was much more effective then they were expecting. I am not sure of the % effectiveness they were expecting and what I am at now.

All I know is I have not had any issues in going on 6 years. I am currently working in an Engineering Aid position full time (40 hrs) and going to school for my BS in Electrical Engineering part time (1 to 2 classes a semester). I am still able to keep up with life and school (getting Bs and As). My grades improved each semester as time moved on (my first class back after surgery I got a C). I still try to push my limits and then I ware myself out, and my Husband tries to let me know. When I get too tiered, he has been scheduling a no company movie marathon.

Your Doctors may just need more time to see if the surgery was adequate enough. Please go in and see them if  Josh starts to diminish drastically in in energy levels more then he is at now. He maybe testing his new limits so watch for that too. Also if the disappearing headaches come back with a vengeance then I would call the doctors then as well.

I hope this helps,
Becky

What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger. And sometimes leaves a cool looking scar.     STA-MCA bypass and EMS Surgeries done at same time at the Mayo clinic
