TIA's years after initial surgery

I haven't been on here in a long time. Tyler is getting ready to graduate HS in Dec. He hasn't had any TIA's, seizures or other affects from his MM except the migraines in the last few years. However 3 weeks ago he had a TIA and then another just a few days ago.

The doctors seem to just be accepting that it is normal for Moyamoya patients and not doing anything about it. They actually put him on seizure meds and sent him home for a follow up in a month when the TIA's have only been 3 weeks apart!

And here I thought living in Denver would give him better access to decent care!

Even though the surgeries were deemed successful, my risk of TIAs and stroke are still elevated, compared to other people. The damage the MM did to me is still there, but my brain is getting better blood flow.

I guess I got to used to Tyler being OK. We just found out tonight that he is having seizures that paralyze his leg for up to 12 hours. Now to find out what changed to cause this sudden occurrence!

Loss of use of limbs...

Tyler is having more "episodes" but they affect both sides of his body and different limbs, so the doctors are confused. Since August 26th he has lost feeling and/or use of his right leg and/or foot 4 times, his left leg and/or foot twice, and his right hand once. These "episodes" last anywhere from 12 hours to 2 hours. The first two seemed like seizures, but the rest were just sudden loss, no other symptoms with it.

Has anyone else had anything like this happen?

Posts: 91 Chicago, USA, IL, Illinois Gender:	Re: TIA's years after initial surgery Reply #5 - Sep 28^th, 2010 at 2:16pm I had one TIA last month which lasted for about 30 minutes on my left arm after the initial surgery on right brain two years ago. I called Dr. Steinberg's office, I was told not to worry about it as long as the TIA doesn't last for more than 12 hours.
