Aneurysms
Oct 9th, 2010 at 8:19pm

My daughter Emily is 8 years old. She had her indirect bypass only on her left side in June of 2006. When she was diagnosed with moyamoya they also found an aneurysm. At that time it was only 2mm. Now I'm told it's about 5mm. The doctors say that she'll need it operated when it's around 8mm. I'd like to know if anyone else has aneurysms with moyamoya and when did you get your clip or coil if you did get surgery. I worry about her aneurysm rupturing all the time. Her neurologist told me that she'll probably need to get it operated on right before she hits puberty. That is scary to me because some kids start to go through it when they are 9 or 10. Roll Eyes
Thank you.

When I had a stroke in 2001 I had a MRI and they fould that I had two aneurysm's that were only 2mm. But they still could not control my blood pressure so I was sent to the University of Iowa Hospitals. They did a brain angiogram and that is when I told that I had mm. They decided to coil the aneurysm's before my indirect bypass surgery in 2003. I was at the age of 51 at the time. Your daugter will be fine.
