Daughter Qualified for Junior Olympics in Swim
Nov 19th, 2010 at 9:56pm

I thought I'd share some good news with everyone in our MM family today.  My daughter who is now 12 years old had her surgery with Dr. Steinberg back in August of 2007.  She jumped back into the pool 4 months after her surgery.  After 3 long years and many hours in the pool, she finally reached her goal in qualifying for the Junior Olympics.  She beat the 200 meter freestyle qualifying time by a second today.   Keep in mind that she's been in and out of emergency rooms almost on a monthly basis with multiple TIAs/Seizures on a weekly basis throughout the 3 year post surgery period.  We've been fortunate that the past 6 months have been free of incidents and she's been able to fully push herself in her favorite sports.  Swimming may not be for all patients but it has been a incredible benefit to my daughter in her recovery, general fitness, and confidence.

Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

That is truly something to be thankful for.  It amazes me how these kids keep persevering.  Please let us know how she does.  Although just qualifying is like getting a gold medal!
