Strange symptoms
Jul 3rd, 2011 at 10:30am

Hi everyone- I am about 5 years out of surgery with Dr. Steinberg. I have been doing well, but I just had a question regarding some symptoms I have been having. It seems maybe every 3-4 months, I develop a feeling of lightheadedness or almost a feeling that my head is floating- almost detached from my body (very weird). This feeling usually lasts for about a week and then one day suddenly it goes away, and I am fine for a few months until it happens again. It is happening at the moment- it started about 2 days ago. I can't really say there is even anything different I am doing that would cause it- I just have been continuing my regular daily routine. I don't feel any other symptoms of weakness, blurry vision, or slurred speech that would indicate a stroke- so I have ruled that out. Does anyone else get this kind of feeling or have any insight into why this would be happening so frequent? Thanks!

Mike

Mike,
Welcome to the Family. I am sorry no one has responded yet. I am 7 years post op and I have never had those lightheadness last longer then an hour. I usally am exausted or had to much sun and not enough water. My sugestion is to increase your water intake to keep your hydration up. Since your not having the other stroke symptoms I would not be that concerned yet.

I would keep a journal of all the times it happened. Time of day when it started, What were you doing at that time, were you hungery, how long did it last. I then would review it with your nurologest. There might be a pattren.

Good luck and please keep us posted,
Becky

Hi, Mike.

My two daughters have MM, but the symptoms you are describing sound familiar to me - I tend to feel that way during allergy season.

I have terrible sinus issues especially during the summer, but sometimes even in winter.  I can always tell when my sinuses are starting to fill up because I get really lightheaded - it's a weird feeling, and comes and goes.  Is it possible you're having sinus issues?

If so, be sure to check with your neurologist about what it's ok to take for them - our neurologist is very picky about what kinds of allergy meds my girls can take.

Anyway, just my two cents...

I hope you're feeling better soon!

Kristen

Hi Mike,

Did you ever figure out what was going on?

I have exactly the same thing happening to me right now.  I'm 6 years post op with Dr. Steinberg.  I've had a bad headache for the past 4 days and for the past two days i feel really light headed and dizzy.  I don't think I'm having strokes, I feel like I have my strength and everything else is okay.  My head feels like it's floating and I can't seem to type or think clearly.

I'm not sure if I should go to the doctor, so I'm curious to hear what happened to you.

thanks!

Mike and Monica,  I'd love to hear if anyone has ideas.  My daughter has been having strange symptoms too.  Her last CT-Angio came back with good results...no blockage, etc.  But she still gets light headed and today she complained of feeling nauseaus and said things were flickering when she looked at tehm.  It didn't last long.  She didn't have any tingling or numbness.  She has headaches all the time.  The surgery didn't help those at all.
