After surgery symptoms
Aug 22nd, 2011 at 1:32pm

I am 2 1/2 weeks out from bypass surgery and am having some things happening, just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same. I have been waking up daily with a swollen face on the side which the surgery was performed to include a mouse under my eye. The swelling does subside some during the day but returns the next morning.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I did have swelling under my eye. It went away a few days after surgery and then returned a couple of weeks later.  Mine didn't go away during the day, but only lasted 3 or 4 days and then went away and hasn't returned.  My surgery was July 27th and my post surgery symptoms are almost all gone.  For the first few weeks I had random numbness in different fingers on my right hand (I had Left side surgery) and some trouble with speech.  I have not had any symptoms for almost a week. I think I have done better when I make sure I drink plenty of fluids and don't overdo it.

dksisco,
Welcome to the family! Yes I experences a bit of swelling after surgery. It evenualy goes away. My scalp itched like crazy while the scar was healing and every once and a while.  Drink plenty of water and get lots of rest. Don't rush into doing things (laundry, staying up late) to soon. Lession to your body and nap when you need to.
please keep us posted,
Becky

What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger. And sometimes leaves a cool looking scar.     STA-MCA bypass and EMS Surgeries done at same time at the Mayo clinic
