Two Years Ago Today...
Oct 5th, 2011 at 5:28pm

Two years ago today, Ruby had the first of her two pial synangiosis surgeries. Today, at 8 y/o, she is like a different child.  We don't have to be fearful every time she gets upset and cries, her migraine-like headaches are few and far between and best of all her risk of stroke is now the same as that of any other child.  We are so thankful for the wonderful, compassionate Dr. Scott at Children's Hospital Boston, for the amazing pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Jodi Smith at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, for fellow China a-mom Dawn Selman from whom I first learned of Moyamoya Disease and was therefore empowered to keep searching for a correct diagnosis for Ruby after 2.5 years of struggling to do so, for the hundreds of people who prayed for an answer to Ruby's medical mystery, for DJ for starting this website, and for all those people on the message boards here who so generously share their time, information & experiences .  Without each of you, Ruby would not be the healthy, strong, happy girl that she is today.  We are incredibly blessed!   Smiley Smiley Smiley

Best regards,

Jennifer
