I need to know about EMS?

My dad (56yrs) has been diagnosed with MMD today. He led a perfectily normal life till Aug'02 when he had a mild TIA but in Nov'03 he had a major stroke and his left side is completely paralysed right now.The neurosurgeon says STA-MCA bypass is not feasible but EMS is a possibility. I would be glad if there is anyone out there who has been through this procedure and would like to share his experience..Moreover, any thoughts about the paralysis..its been over a month now and he isn't improving much.. Smiley

Hi Robi, This is tom G. I too suffered a major stroke about 18 months ago when I was 46 and had left side parallysis. You didn't say what kind of stroke it was. Mine was a Hemorage which are the most deadly but if survived offer the best recovery. My neurologist said that I would see improvements over a two year oeriod. 18 months later I am only left with a small limp some left side weakness and some vision problems. I didn't start to see improvements for about 3 weeks. Wish your dad a good recovery and keep praying.
