What an amazing XMas present!
Dec 23rd, 2003 at 1:21pm

Kathleen's last stroke was about a year and a half ago. When this happened she was unable to even sit up on her own.She has been gaining strength everyday since then. She was born with DS and this made it much harder for her to do all the things we take for granted the first time but she has now had to re-learn it all.I am so very proud of her.On SundayI was in my daughters bedroom(cleaning ofcourse), and Kathleen was in our living room(at the other end of the house).I looked up and there was Kahtleen with the biggest smile, standing in the doorway.(this is the first time she has ventured to walk through the house on her own she had been taking steps but with help). She had gotten herself to standing and made her way through the house ALONE!!!! I cried!! I have been praying for this day for over a year now.Kathleen is one amazing person.I truely admire her strength, determination, and patience.Thank you god for this Wonderful Christmas gift.We are so thankful everyday that Kathleen is here with us.Teaching us what is really important.I hope you all have a wonderful and healthy Holiday!!! At School Kathleen got to show off to Santa(who happened to be her dad who loves dressing up every year). Her teacher asked her if she would like to show Santa how she could get up and walk on her own now.She said "Yeah sure",and she did it slowly and proudly and walked over to sit on santa'slap.Santa had a hard time holding back those tears.Thank you all for letting meshareourproud moment.

Hi Mary Grace,

Smiley

Thank you for sharing that with us. I cried too and thank God for answering another prayer. I can't hear enough stories like that. Kathleen may do even better in time. The neurologist told us that a year or so after a stroke is when you may see the better progress.

My continued prayers.

Happy Holidays! Smiley
