diagnosing moyamoya

My husband was diagnosed with moyamoya in August 03 and had surgery then too.  The problem is that he was diagnosed with cns vasculitis for 9 months prior. Has anyone else had this problem?  I am just trying to find out how long it took most of you to be diadnosed?
