Well, I have been diagnosed with mm from early 2001 and have had both sides done in April/May of 2001.  After those surgeries I was fine for a while but in the summer of 2003 I began experiencing TIA's again.  I had an MRI and angiogram done and found the blood vessels were narrowing again and needed another surgery so in Sept 2003 I had the left side done again.  Both times Dr. Steinberg performed the surgeries.  I think that you should update Dr. Steinberg.  I think he is really nice and extremely helpful.  Especially with easing my mother and father's nerves.  I respect him and think he is an excellent doctor.  Everybody's body works differently so you might want to keep in touch with him.  Take care and good luck with your angiogram.

Lisa ... I know it has been a few months since you posted this ... I am a new user on this forum.

Our adopted son has Iowa Medicaid as a secondary insurance.  We contacted his Income Maintenance worker with the state of Iowa; explained that this is a VERY rare disease; re-iterated the importance of having Sean treated by someone who had done at least 50 of the type of surgeries that he requires ... we are awaiting final approval, but the IM worker has told us that she is 95% certain that Medicaid will help out. 

You may have already been through this process, but thought it might be worth noting as there are exceptions to every rule!
