Kathleen's Dream
May 5th, 2004 at 1:10pm

I just wanted to share with you what a wonderful day we had over the weekend. We have been telling Kathleen she could play baseball like her brother Patrick(her favorite person in the world) since she was about 3. 2 yrs ago after her strokes we weren't so positive about that.Well Sunday her dream came true she got to play her first baseball game. She had her own baseball hat, shirt, and glove(which she ahd to wear on her right hand). She was laughing so hard she could hardly stand up.Best of all she was chosen to hit the first homerun of the season!! it's a challenger league (all children with dissabilities)so everyone will hit a home run within the season. What a proud and tearful moment when she rounded the bases pumping her right arm as hard as she could to gain some speed, her dad by her side(not even holding ehr hand!).She loved the cheers as she headed to home plate. Her smile that had been crooked for so long was bigger than I had ever seen it.Thanks for listening to a proud mom brag just a bit about her HERO.

Bring out the peanuts and cracker jack!!!!
and keep those home runs comming!

Jack and I shared tears of joy when we read about the game and all the progress Kathleen's made.

Keep it up.

Mary Grace,
I think those challenger leagues are so wonderful my son was in one and if it wasn't for that he would never have played. That is the most wonderful story ever it brings back so many memories of my son. I can just picture Kathleen how precious I'm sure she was. Thanks so much for sharing..... a happy cry is a healthy cry.
