In Stanford
Jun 17th, 2004 at 7:56pm

Hi everyone,  I just arrived in Stanford on June 15th.  Had my first test test (June 17th).  It was a neurosych eval.  Tomarrow I get to have another angiogram, spech scan and ct scan.  Everyone here is just incredibly nice and helpful.  Haven't met Dr Steinberg yet.  My pre op isnt until Monday with surgery on Tuesday.  I will keep posting to let you know how it goes.  I really appreciate all the support.

WinkGood luck David.  We are all praying for you and your quick recovery.  I know that you are in the best hands possible.  Stay strong through the weekend and through all those test and it will all be over with before you know it.  Just remember . . . you have all of us fellow mm'ers out here on your side thinking about you and lifting you up in prayer!

Hello David!  I just left Stanford on Thursday, so I just missed getting to meet you.  I had my follow-ups, and everything looks good.  The side Dr. Steinberg did looks better than the side I had done in Dallas of course!  Though that side is still flowing okay.  I am glad you are in Stanford.  I think everyone there is wonderful, and I'll be praying that all goes well for you!   Smiley Tricia (gilberttl)

Thanks for all the support.  I just got back from my spect scan and my angio.  They told me to be there at 9:30am for the angio.  Came in to take me at 1:00pm.  When I told them I had a spect scan 2:00pm they decided to wait until after it to do the angio.  I was lying down from 9:30am until 9:00pm.  Needless to say I was not happy.  Yes I am whinning. But they said I had two really good veins for Dr Steinberg to use.  I've got Sat. and Sun. off so I'm going to take my wife to the Fishermans Warf.  Well thats it for now more updates to follow.  Can someone tell me if you have to have another Angio in your follow-up.

Have fun at Fisherman's wharf.....it is one of my favorite places.....we are all praying for you.....you are entitled to do a little whining ----especially when you had to lay down for 12 1/2 hours.......after my 2nd surgery, I had to lie down with a catheter for 5 days-----and, yuck, use a bedpan.....not fun.......and, I could not speak......so, I understand your dilemma......hove a great weekend...we are rooting for you.....PatM Smiley

Hey David,I think a little whining about all the things we have to go through with MM is okay!  I did an angio in my follow-up, but my case is a little different because Dr. S is monitoring my rt. side done by someone else, and my back artery which is narrowing.  He said they don't like to do regular arteriograms, so unless i have any problems, I don't have to have another for 2 years!!
The wharf was one of my favorite sites.  My 4 year old son loved it.  He laughed and laughed about the sea lions, and the acquarium is neat-you can pet a sting-ray and a shark.  Have some fun before you are laid up again for a while.  You're in my prayers.   Smiley  Tricia

Hi David,

My 17 year old daughter, Tara, had her 2 surgeries on 6/2 and 6/9 by Dr. Steinberg.  He and his staff are fantastic, unbelievable people - maybe even angels in disguise!  We are enjoying our first few days home with our daughter, and the feeling is similar to the very intense feelings we experienced when we brought her home after she was born.  People who have been through MM surgery can best understand the feelings you're having, and we are with you all the way!  We, as well as everyone at our church will be praying for you.

I hope you enjoy your weekend.  Don't worry - things will be fine.  We live locally (San Jose), so please let us know if there's anything we can do for you.  We'll be anxious to hear from you once surgery is over.

Keep smiling, and know that so many people are with you through this!

Jill

Well, today I met the great Dr. Steinberg.  He is really nice.  I also met Tara who had her surgery just a few weeks ago and she looked great.   They were super nice people.  Tara, keep that attitude and that faith and you will go as far as you want.  Thanks again Campbell and Tara for all the information.  It really helps to actually see and speak to someone who has already gone through the surgery.  I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am tomarrow morning for surgery.  OUCH!  Thanks for all the support and I will have my wife Angie post the results as soon as she knows something.
