Dr. Chris Ogily just did my surgery on Jan 18th 2006..I have decided not too have the other side done and it wasn't nothing Dr. Ogilvy had done just complications during surgery. Brilliant surgeron. At least he got the worst side. But he is at Massachsettes General Hospital and I do have his phone number at his office

When I woke from my firsy surgery, my head felt like he opened my skull with a baseball bat. Good thing for morphine Wink. I mentioned that to them befor my second and they made sure I didn't feel a thing before I woke. I had an angiogram in Dec 2004 and my the arteries have grown quite a lot to revasculate the brain.

My best to you.

I never felt a thing after my surgery considering that they kept me a drug induced coma for 10 days after a major asparation into my lungs causing double pneumonia in both lungs...Maybe thats why I never felt anything cause I was in a coma Smiley.  But I don't regret having it done at least he got the worst side that was almost bald where arteries were supposed too be and some never grew as I did.  But hopefully that this surgery will work. One good thing about it all, I haven't had any headaches since surgery. HATS OFF too Dr. Ogilvy

Dr. oglvy did my surgery on 05/15/06. This was my first surgery. I did not feel a thing, the only thing that hurt was the stitches for those couple of days that they had to be in. After they came out I felt a whole lot better. They pinched and pulled. He says that my left side looks pretty good for now, no plans yet for a second surgery. I would definately reccommend him. He is very professional and makes you feel very comfortable. I am glad that I had him and did not have to search because the stroke specialist who I saw referred me to him. I was extremely lucky. I am being followed very closely.

This is my brother's post, who has since had a massive stroke, as some of you know from my other posts. In actuality, Dr Ogilvy left my brother's head a pitted mess. I had the same surgery, as I have Moya Moya also, at about the same time, but my surgeon was Dr Cargill Allyne, who was at Strong Hospital in Rochester, NY at the time.

I just found this site today because Chuck is my dad and "Mayhem" is my uncle. Like many I am always trying to find more info on MM. This is news to me that Dr. Ogilvy left my dad's head a mess, but I guess my uncle would know better than me. In October 2007, my dad had two massive strokes, and is now living in a nursing home at 53 years old. He needs constant medical assistance and can no longer take care of himself. The Doctors believe that it was a blood clot that started in I think his leg, and then traveled to his brain. I'll just say it has a been a tough 16 months.

Sarah,

I'm so sorry for what has happened with your dad.  If I remember correctly, we met him in San Antonio the summer of 2007 when he came to the gathering.  He's such a nice man.

I have a 22 year old daughter with MM, so can only begin to imagine how difficult this is for your entire family.  Information gathering is what many of us do, and it will be nice to have a better understanding . . . some day.  Until then, my prayers are with you all.

Take care,

Jill

I just met with Dr Olgilvy for my discussion of possible surgery...
I was impressed with how he took the time to go over all of my slodes and ALL of my questions...
Having just been diagnosed with MM, I am full of questions that this site has done an amazing job of helping me understand and feel as at ease I can dealing with this...
Not going to lie...Some of the above posts scare the hell out of me. Can some one please give a little more info on their experiences with Dr Olgivy...
I just put a call into Dr Scott over at Childrens Hospital for a second consultation if possible...But I felt good about Olgilvy...But as I said...The above posts are a little scary...
ANY and ALL comments would be welcome.
Thanks

Anyone out there with recent experience with Dr. Oglivy?? Any info on his experience with MM and STA-MCA bypass surgery would be greatly appreciated, as we are searching for a surgeon in MA since Dr. Day has left Boston & our insurance will not cover Dr. Steinberg Sad

When Did Dr. Day leave and to where? He did my surgery this past September and I've started to have several small TIAS daily now and my regular Neurologist at Beth Isreal never said a work when I had my appointment with him this week.

Hi Kathy,

Dr. Day left the first week of March, about a week after he performed my bypass.  My experience with the people in his office as of late have been very frustrating. How has your experience with his office been?  My local neurologists have no experience in handling MM cases so I'm kind of in a bad place right now. I'm sorry to hear about your TIAs. I've been experiencing bad headaches still and weakness on my left side. I feel sluggish also but my CTAs don't show anything.  Something just doesn't feel right though. How did you know you had TIAs? Did your CTA show changes? FYI- Dr. Rose Du has taken on Dr. Day's patients.
