Hello everybody, I am going to Las Vegas during that time and staying at the Stardust.  I am new to this and would like to meet people at this event.  Would I be able to get some more information about what this get together is all about?  THanks so much. 

I'm a MM survivor and would like to meet others that have gone through similar experiences as I have.

Hi Melina!  Smiley Welcome to our MM family!

You certainly are welcome!! We would love to meet you and your sister. This "get together" is exactly what you said, getting together with MM survivors and their families and discussing similar experiences with this rare disease, and of course having some fun while doing it. Smiley

I would be willing to bet that never before were there this many MM survivors in one place. You'll meet some wonderful people that I'm proud to say are my MM family.

Our meeting place is at the "Flamingo." I'm not the one with all the details, that would be Michelle or Shari. I know they'd be more than happy to give you any info you'll need. I just wanted to welcome you and tell you that I'm looking forward to meeting you there. Smiley

Thanks Mar for the assist.  I've been really busy at work with my boss' new promotion to a VP and his boss being in the office this week.  I can't wait for our time off for the holiday on Friday and Monday. 

Of course Melina!  You are certainly invited to attend with as many people you would like to bring!  In fact all can attend and we hope to get as many people with MM out there!  This is going to be a great informative event as well as a fun one. 

Please feel free to send me or STrantas (Shari) a private message for any details that you may need.  All the details are posted throughout the this forum, but any questions you have we are here to answer.

Just a thought… Has anyone contacted the local media in and around Las Vegas, to see if we could get any possible coverage?? Like, TV, newspapers, or radio stations?

I could do that, Mar, unless it's something that DJ should do or would rather do.  Of course, I haven't seen him around in awhile as I know he is working graveyard shifts.  I could at least get him editor names for him and news directors.  I have all that access with my work through a program called Vocus.

I was just thinking, wow, what a great story... a rare disease, brings a close group of survivors, friends and supporters from all around the country all together from a website, "moyamoya.com" to Las Vegas. Someone just may be interested in a story like that.

I spoke with DJ yesterday, and he loves the idea of notifying the media about our gathering.  He was fine with you moving forward with it.  If you do, and if you'd like any help, please let me know.  You'll just need to steer me in the right direction, as this is definitely not my area of knowledge!

Hello All:

I am absolutely terrible at all the smiley stuff.   Shocked   My husband and I are so excited about meeting moyamoyans. We spoke with DJ years ago before his first surgery. Our son, Brian, is a 5 year survivor - 3 STA-MCA's with Steinberg (God Bless Him)' Thank you so much for putting this together!!!!!

For those of you that are going to Las Vegas, can you please send me your email addresses either via PM or to my aol account at Chelles4U@aol.com?  We are a month away from the trip and I would like to have it to email final itineraries and other pertinent information.  I need to have these as soon as possible.  Even if you are thinking about going, please send me your email addresses as well.  I'm looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can. 

Also, if you have any ideas, questions or concerns, please let me know.  This is a perfect time to start wrapping up things for the trip.

Thanks, Nancy. I'll take all the positive strokes (no pun intended) I can get. We are soooo excited about this trip!! Our son had a massive stroke 5 years ago in June, 3 STA-MCA's 8 weeks later in August. He just celebrated his 22nd birthday, a day our local docs said he'd never see. God is good. Our family is known for its slightly "off" sense of humor, gets us through a lot. Is your child doing well? I hope so.  Cheesy

I'm not able to speak for everyone else, but my family is flying in on Friday and out on Monday.  Last I heard, DJ's flight schedule is similar to ours.

Hi Nancy:

Glad we have similar senses of humor.  Roll Eyes Brian had the incredible honor of being the first person Steinberg had a problem with. The first STA-MCA failed, clotted off and he almost died. Thank God he had another really good temporal artery and the next surgery was successful. Steinberg felt so bad. We just thank God that Brian has such a big head  Smiley. He has always demonstrated such courage. I want so much to be like him when I grow up.
