Just wanted to share a little "brag"
Jun 9th, 2005 at 10:23am

School is almost over for Kathleen thankfully because it's getting HOT here 91 today and they don't have air conditioning.needless to say I've been picking her up early these days.
Well I wanted to share my brag... Kathleen's Field Day was yesterday at school. They had all the first graders outside. The first event was a running one.First they called the kids who were running the 50 meter race( I thought "oh this must be Kahtleen's race the shortest") No Kathleen, then they called for the 100 meter again no Kahtleen so I thought oh well she must not be running today.Ohhhhh Nooooo Kahtleen wanted to run the 300 meter! As she lined up, all her classmates yelled "GO KATHLEEN" and continued it throughout the race, as I cried my eyes out through the whole race. She was dead last, but She made it all the way!! (you can really only tell she's running becasue her right arm pumps like crazy we're hoping to get that left arm going again soon too). As Kathleen neared the end of the race about 50 meters from the finish about 12 of her classmates ran onto the field and ran in with her. She got 3 ribbons what a proud day she had!!! (ME TOO!!).Thanks fro letting me brag a bit....

Mary Grace,

What a wonderful story, and I can just feel how proud of Kathleen you are (it's hard to type right now with my tears!).  I'll bet she's excited with the end of the school year . . . please be sure to tell her "congratulations" on her race, and give her a big hug from me!

Thanks for sharing - I have a big smile on my face to start the day!

Warmly,
Jill

Mary Grace,

What a wonderful story to tell.  I know that you are so very proud, and I bet Kathleen was grinning from ear to ear when she finished that race.  I could just picture the whole thing in my mind as you described it all.

Please give Kathleen a
BIG HUG
for me and tell her that I said WAY TO GO!  It's those accomplishments along the way that just make you happier than anything else in the world.  Reminds me of when I first was able to actually jump after having my stroke after my surgeries.  It was a complete and wonderful feeling.

Mary Grace,

What a wonderful story....who knows maybe this is the start of a career in running.

Based on your e-mail address, you are somewhere in the Capital District (I grew up all around Albany (Albany, Troy, Coeymans Hollow)...give Kathleen a couple of years and she'll be running the Troy Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving...or the Tulip Run in Washington Park (do they still run Tulip race in May?). (Needless to say, I use to run track and cross country for Lansingburgh HS.)

Again, congraulations to you both.

Regards,
Greg

I was misdiagnosed with MM in March of 2005. In January 2006, I was told it is not MM, but rather a massive restriction in the MC1 segment of my left carotid artery.

You guys are wonderful thank you for all the kind words. Not everyone understands what these milestones mean ,but I know that every person here does. Your thoughts and words mean so much to us.
Hey Greg it sounds like we may have been neighbors at one time.We live in East Greenbush(just outside of Albany). But I grew up in Waterford and went to Waterford-Halfmoon High school.Just a "hop skip and a jump" from Troy.

Mary Grace,
Thank you for bringing back a wonderful memory of my son he had a heart disease and was delayed. He had the opportunity to run in the special olympics and ran in a race also and the exact same thing happen he walked half of it and was dead last and they all started to run with him and cheered like he was in first place at the end.....I am so proud of Kathleen what a special feeling for you both she seems like a strong willed wonderful little girl. What an awesome accomplishment, I just got mascara on my shirt I can't keep up with the tears. Please give her a hug for me. Some of the richest rewards come from our children.
