After second surgery
Jun 21st, 2005 at 12:37am

I am Brad 19 year old with MM had a indirect bypass in Dec 04. Im shure alot of you have read my post before. Yes I know I write alot but in a case with moya moya thats probably a good thing. I was curious with me having a blockage on the right side theres always that possibilty of needing surgery. I was woundering and curious!!! for those of you have had brain surgery twice or more is the recrouperation easier after the second time or is it harder? Id like to kinda get a head's up in case good forbid i need surgery again to get a general consensus of what most people go threw after the second surgery. Any and all post are welcomed and thankyou for doing so.

Hi Brad Smiley

I'm Elaine. I had two surgeries about 2 1/2 years ago. After the 2nd surgery, it wasn't that different than the 1st one for me. The only problem I really had was the medication I took made me hungry all the time and I gained a bit of weight. Embarrassed

WooWee!  Don't I know what you are talking about Sanelle.  Good grief, it must have been those pesky steroids that made you so hungry as they had the same effect on me.  I also gained some weight after my surgeries.  I guess that's the one down side to these surgeries.

How many days do you have to stay on the steriods.  I must say, I hate them.  I was on them for sooo long before they diagnosed me with MM.  What kind of steriods and how much weight did you gain?

Tyler's first surgery was a breeze. However he had some complications with his second surgery and wasn't able to eat for a few days. So as you can tell the time after surgery can be just as different for each person as the surgery itself.

I wished Tyler would have gained weight....lol

I think I had to stay on the steroids for 2 weeks. I was about 90 lbs before the surgery and after taking the steroids I was 125 lbs. Thankfully, I lost some weight after the effects of the steroids wore off and was about 100-105 lbs. I'm not sure what kind of steroids I took, but I can ask my dad.
