Another Reason to Live EVERY DAY
Jan 22nd, 2006 at 5:13am

allright.... so in between all this brain surgery business.... with a whole team of people doing their best to keep me around... this afternoon i was in a major car crash where a taxi driver drove straight into me and took out most of the left side of my car.

luckily in aus that's not the driver side and i didn't have a passenger but still my car is very damaged  Cry and we were both going very slow and it could easily be much worse..

Emily,

I hope that you are ok....

Just remember, cars are replaceable, people are not. Any accident that you can walk away from is a "good" accident.

Best of luck,
Greg

I was misdiagnosed with MM in March of 2005. In January 2006, I was told it is not MM, but rather a massive restriction in the MC1 segment of my left carotid artery.

Amen to what Greg said!!!!  I had an accident too recently where a deer jumped out in front of my car.  All I can remember is me saying repeatedly, "please God....don't let the deer hit my windshield."  I guess my prayers worked as the deer hit the passenger side of my car and I was the only one in the vehicle.  I was very lucky as I knew that if the had deer hit my windshield I would be a goner.  That deer was a 5 point buck!!!

I thank my lucky stars and God for every day of my life.

Glad you are ok, Emily.  Smiley

Emily,

Amen that you are okay!  As Greg said...people are NOT replaceable.  I thank God that you survived the crash and weren't seriously hurt.  Yes, after your recent surgery and everything else being done to improve your health, this may seem ironic; however, there is a reason for everything...and there is a reason you are still here, Emily.  You have a divine purpose...and are an inspiration.  ;Grin

Michelle,

Amen to you too for your encounter with the deer!  We all should count our lucky stars each and every day.  Wink

I thank God for all of you and your friendships and support you've given me...

God bless, Shan Smiley

Stupid taxi driver didn't lookt at all, just took off to do his turn...
Oh well, I have some nasty seat-belt bruises coming up but all good apart from that.
Never driving in a city again, in fact i'm moving out into the forest to hibernate in a little cottage forever.

Hi Emily,

I'm glad you are ok.

Oh no not Karly!? She is (was) such a pretty Combi. I'm shocked she is considered a write-off! Makes me sick!

Like, Greg mention. Cars are replaceable, people are not.

You are a trooper and I know you will move forward.

Take care,

Hugs,

Lore

hmmmmm well i spent all of today getting 2nd, 3rd, 4th.... etc opinions... and at the end of it all she's still financially a write-off.. as in the repairs cost way more than she's insured for....

so my options now are to get the money that she's insured for and:
1. use that to buy the "wreck" back and then get her fixed privatley and a bit cheaper and good enough in my eye
or
2. buy the "wreck" back and buy another cheap kombi and combine them to make a Super Kombi...

so we'll just see what happens...

oh and a mystery witness showed up after the accident and declared that i ran a red light so i also got a red-light-offence in the mail today - without any proof!!!

someone Up There is really not liking me for some reason.....

Emily,

I'm sorry to hear the "write-off" verdict on Karly, and also of the red light offense.  How awful that you can't even defend it!  I'm just glad you're o.k., and you know . . . maybe Karly II will be even more awesome!

good news  ;Grin

karly is a write-off.. insurance (as in economial) but not structural or statutory (which would leave her un-registerable).
so i get the $5000 she's insured for minus $700 because it was "my fault" grrrr Smiley and i buy her back for $100!! and then i have $4200 to get her fixed and the insurance guy reckons it would only cost about $1000

yay!!

sad days turn back to happy days

Hi Emily,

Great news! Smiley Karly Resurrected!

By-the-way, I did the math. How they ever determined Karly a loss and you still keep Karly, restore her and still have money left over is beyond me.  Smiley I love that math!! Smiley

Be sure and buy Karly something special with all that extra money! A new pair of shoes? lol

I'm glad it all worked out for both you and Karly.

You'll have to post pictures.

Hugs,

Lore
