Unilateral MM going to other side?
Jul 22nd, 2006 at 9:52pm

Hello Everyone! It has been a long time since I have posted anything but I need some info from some of you again. My daughter Mara has unliateral MM and had her surgery with Dr. Scott in 2004. She had her  1 year angiogram in boston in 2005 and everything looked good with the flow and new vessels forming. We just went for her yearly MRA/MRI last week at Pirttsburgh Childrens hospital and the neurologist said there is diminished flow on the middle cerebral artery and possible diminshed flow on the anteroir cerebral artery( this is the side of her surgery). All of her films and info were sent to Dr.  Scott and he will certainly be the opinion that I trust. After her MRA she was complaining of some headaches. Dr. Scot is on vacation and will return July 31 so I must wait till the to hear his advise but I wondered if this was the start of progression to the other side or if anyone has had a similar experience!!

Thanks Again!!

Mandy, mom of 5yr. old with mm

Hi Mandy,

What did Dr. Scott say?  I hope everything is ok.

I recall reading a post where a test of an MRI/MRA showed diminished blood flow and when reviewed by Dr. Steinberg, everything was fine.  ??

My prayers are with Mara & your family.

MaryAnn

Our 7 year old daughter had surgery on one side 4/07/06.

Mandy:

When I first started having symptoms of MM, my MM was unilateral also. Within 18 months, it had moved to the other side. I had 2 surgeries 16 years ago and have been very well.

My MRI/MRA's also show dimished blood flow to the right side of my brain and they have for sometime. My symptoms have been fine. My doctor calls it being "adnormally normal".

I look at it as MM being a progressive disease and eventhough I have had surgery, it is still a battle for my brain to make enough new vessels to out do the MM vessels. Now, this is how I think of it and not what my doctor told me...

I hope Mara continues to grow and heal and I hope everything works out. Please keep us infored. Thank you!
