Jeana's tests Stanford
Nov 16th, 2006 at 8:27pm

Hello Everyone,

We made it hear last nite and everything went well.  Flights were good and made really good time.

We are stay at the Creekside in now in stead of the Pacific Inn.  In room 239.

Well I started my test today and it was not fun, just cause it killed my back.  I had the brain spec study done, the first day and go back tomorrow for the second part.  Before I have to do that I have to go have the phychological test done.  I am not looking forward to that one.  Can anyone tell me what to expect?  I hate when they try to play with your head.

Does anyone have any good places to go out to eat?
I will keep up everyday now that I have internet running.

Jeana

Day 2

Well had tests again today.  They were not that bad.  I don't have anymore tests until Sat nite at 7:30 so that at least gives us some time to go and do some site seeing.  Just have to decide where to go.  Well talk to you all later.  Thanks for the advice on the food.

Jeana

Hello everyone sorry have not posted been a little busy.  HEHEHE.  I am feeling okay i quess, not really sure what to feel.  My right side is all swollen but Johns says not as bad as yesterday.  We are going to go do breakfast now and maybe walmart to get some things other than that I think It is a lot of sleeping for me.  I feel bad for JOhn he is so bord here.  I am so ready to go home already.  I hope that the second surgery goes better than the first one,  I hated feeling sick.  Maybe they will give me some meds before surgery.  The sooner I can get out of here the better I will be.  HOme with my little guy and family.  Well I will try and post later.

DJ and I just got back into town from Stanford on Tuesday.

He took me to "Frankie, Johnnie, and Luigi's too", www.fjlmountainview.com,  it's an Italian Restaurant...great food, good price too.  It's located on El Camino Real.

Also, my husband would kill me if I didn't mention it (right, Jill?), but Maldonado's Pizza. www.maldonadospizza.com  It is next door (literally) to the Seven 11 on Rengstorff and El Camino Real.  GREAT pizza...I was impressed!!

Anyway, there are alot of restaurants in the area, and the Stanford Mall is fabulous!!  (pricey...but neat)

I hope all your tests go as well a DJ's did.

Let us know how they all go....you're in my thoughts...

Hi Jeana,

Glad to hear you made it to Stanford and you had a good flight. It's a long trip for some depending on how far away one lives.

I can't help you with the psychological part since my brother didn't have that test. I wouldn't worry about it. I think they are simply trying to determine where you are before the surgery and then after the surgery.

There are a lot of very good places to eat in Palo Alto. Chili's is always good and they have some great Mexican restaurants. Unfortunately, I can't recall the name of the Mexican restaurant on El Camino near the Univeristy area. It was very nice and the food was great.

I guess I'm not much help. If I think of the names of any of the restaurants I will post them for you.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers and I'll be watching for your updates.

Say Hi to the Stanford moya moya team from Kevin (Cubbie) and Lore. They are all awesome and you are in very good hands.

Hugs,

Lore

Jeana:

Glad to hear that you made it out there okay.  Don't worry about the neuropsych test ... you're not graded so just do the best you can (though admittedly some of the questions can be aggravating !!  Smiley ).

Steph is right, Chevy's is awesome!!!!!!!!!  There are too many restaurants to count, but if you like Indian food, we tried about eight of them I think, and I liked Passage to India best.  The salad bar place (forgot name) on El Camino is good, as is all the noodle places (can't go wrong with noodles).  If you like Chinese, definitely try Ming's, not too far from Stanford on Embarcadero (do you have a car?).  It's excellent.  Or Pick Up Stix is good.  Don't forget to stop by Jamba Juice!!  Smiley   Also, I didn't go there but I heard a good diner is Hobie's?

Once you are out of surgery, and if you're on steriods, you'll wanna try them all, like I did (I had a whole list).

You're in great hands and will receive great care.  You're in my thoughts - keep us posted.

Hugs,
Trina

Hey Jeana:

It looks like we missed each other in passing at the spect scan's.  Julie was there this morning around 9 am and the receptionist got her confused with you, then they started checking all personal data to make sure Julie was Julie.  The confusion held us up 1/2 hour but all in all the spect today went a lot faster.  Hope your's went well.

Can't help you on the psych test, Julie isn't doing those.  Her neurosurgeon in Florida wanted to start them but it was a time intensive test (2 to 3 days) and they were booked up to christmas.  And since then we decided to come here.  Good luck with those.  We will be seeing Dr. Steinberg on Monday for pre-op.  And go back tonight for the MRI.

Lots of fun waiting around in between testing.  But at least we will have the weekend free.  Thinking of going to San Fransisco.  Call if you need anything.

Hi all,

You would think I would remember at least a few of the restaurants after spending over three weeks at Stanford the first time and 10 days the second time and eating my way up and down El Camino Real and University Ave.

I ate at a restaurant that is rustic and looks like or has the name "Barn" in it...I think. It was located by Stanford Shopping and close to the Medical Center and was great atmosphere, excellent food and pricey! LOL!

Steph, I can't remember if the restaurant was Chevy's but it might be because as you mentioned, it was the best damn salsa I ever had!

I did eat breakfast and dinner at Hobie's. That is very good and they are known for their coffee cake. Thanks Trina for jogging my memory.
