73yrs, deterioating cond. in hospital, need advice
Oct 26th, 2009 at 7:59am

Hello,
My mother is 73, just diagnosed with MM, did a lot of reading in short time. Thank you for the resources.
She is getting worse each day, laying in the hospital.
Loosing, function of her left side of the body, watching her deteriote each day, unable to stabilizer her. Too many part time doctors, not one in charge. They talk about maybe doing they surgery, maybe not. May not be a candidte. She is closed on the left side and blocked 95 percent on the right. With her smaller arteries. I am calling a meeting today to talk with the neurologist.
I am unclear how to get her records on a CD. We live near Mayo CLinic and I saw on the boards a dr. that is more familiar with this disease and has perfromed surgery.
I am at the point of desiring to move her, but don't want to take her if unstable and do not have records.
Looking to see if anyone has had experience watching an elderly person with this disease. They have her on IV blood thinners and also oral blood thinners. But, she is shutting down each day.
Thank you
kathy

Hi Kathy

Welcome to moyamoya.com. Unfortunately I have no experience dealing with the elderly and this disease but I'm quite sure you'll find a few people on here have.

I can, however, tell you that the hospital should provide you with a CD containing the images from your mothers MRI/MRA/Angio scans; just ask the radiology department for a copy. All these machines nowadays are digital and they burn the images direct to CD. Once they provide you with the CD you can make as many copies of it as you require on you home PC and send them off to the moyamoya specialists of your choice for other opinions.

Good luck and I wish you great strength
