asymptomatic moyamoya? / EMS?

Any thoughts on asymptomatic moyamoya? That is, a patient who has been diagnosed with moyamoya, yet is experiencing no symptoms (stroke, bleeding)?

Also, has anyone had an EMS procedure? and care to discuss your experience, recovery, future prognosis?

Thanks!

dthrill,
My MM was caught when my nurologest was trying to diagnos the cause of my stroke. It was due to too many rollercosters in a short period of time, inciated the migrains that later I was perscribed an medication I didn't know i could not have (triptans) that caused my stroke.

I had the EMS and the STA-MCA bypasses. I had both the surgers done at the same time. I had both done since they were worried the STA-MCA bypass would not as sucessful in feeding my brain with the adiquit amount of bloodflow.

In my EMS case I have a perminate softspot on the side of my head the size of a 50cent piece. At first it was extreemly sensitive after a year the extreem sensitivity has died down. I can feel in the soft spot the changes in the weather and how the muscel is reacting to the change in pressure. I acadently smaked the softspot with something hard and I called my nurologest and he saw me the next day to verify I didn't injure myself to badly. I didn't, it was just sore for a few days. It is hard to expain the sensations.

I have no real issues outside of being protective about that side of my head. so no contact sports and  I always ware a helmet when biking/motorcycling ect. No Skydiving or scuba or roller costers for me any more.

I hope this helped,
becky

What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger. And sometimes leaves a cool looking scar.     STA-MCA bypass and EMS Surgeries done at same time at the Mayo clinic

My daughter never had a stoke or a bleed.  They aren't even sure if she ever really had TIA's.  that is nothing showed up on any of her scans or tests.  We found hers because her doctor didn't give up trying to find out what the cause of her headaches was.  She had EDAS on the right and still has headaches.  I guess every case is just different.
