Hereditary or Genetic?

Hi All

I'm about to try and convince my medical insurance to scan my wife, my son and myself to check for moyamoya (paranoid a little? Grin

).

I need to go into battle with as much ammunition as possible. Does anyone have any documentation, or links, to any medical investigations into the subject of a familial link with the disease?

Please let me know what you know.

1st stroke in September 2008, age 10 months
Bi-lateral mm diagnosis
2nd stroke in November 2008, age 1 year old
Left side surgery in December 2008
13 years on now
Doing just great!

I have a SNP which predisposes me: rs6565681 A:A The test was only $300. I used the co called 23 and Me, but there are a few others. My kids do not have both high risk alleles.
