Hi Everyone! Well, I'm back from my visit with Dr. Scott. He's such a wonderful man and made me and my family feel very comfortable with taking the next steps. My surgery (pial synangiosis) is scheduled for December 9th at Children's Hospital in Boston. He's going to only do my left side first (because that's my dominant side) and then I'll come back another time for my right side. I'm a little scared about the surgery, but I think I'm more scared about not doing anything. The staff at Children's is very friendly so I'm comfortable about having it done there even though I'm not a child! (I'm 28, by the way!)
As for my past post about insurance - well - my current insurance denied my coverage for my visit to Dr. Scott. I have the option of taking it to the next level review, which would involve a lawyer and a doctor and going to meet with the medical director. However, becuase I'm going to a better plan as of 12/1/03 , which will cover everything I need, I think I'm just going to pay for the visit - I'm just very lucky I have a supportive family to help me out both emotionally and financially. For those of you who are in a similar situation with insurance, keep fighting! (If I were staying with the same insurance I would be continuing the fight.) I guess I'm fortunate that I have the opportunity to switch.
