Six-Month Checkup
May 14th, 2008 at 8:43pm

I returned from Stanford yesterday. After a week of testing, I met with Dr. Steinberg and his team. I'm doing GREAT and won't have to return for another 2 1/2 years! Just wanted to share the good news and to tell those who are starting out on this difficult path to keep at it - the results are worth the effort.

Great news Kim.  Did Dr. S tell you why you needed to return in 2.5 years?  Just wondering.

Look forward to seeing you in Vegas!

Hi Carol,
No, he didn't say. I just assumed that he wanted to check that the grafts were still intact. I tell you though, unless I'm a given a VERY good reason, I won't agree to another angiogram - every time they shot the dye it HURT. Several times my vision blacked and I saw little tiny lights flickering in the blackness. So, I'd just as soon not have another.  I'll call to ask, why a recheck in 2 1/2 years and ask if I can skip the next angio. I'll let you know what I'm told when we meet in Las Vegas.

Congrats Kim!  ;Grin

May I ask what kind of tests you had done to see if the grafts were intact?  Was it just the angiogram?  Ohh...I don't care for those myself...but I know we need to.   Lips Sealed

So good to hear the great news!

Take care,
Shan

Kim~~~~

Good going!
Glad it's all working out for you.
I enjoyed your attiude and verv.

Jack and I were in Palo Alto dealing with my moms 'estate'.  I didn't check this site as I normally do  (we usually try get over to see Jill and whoever wants a mm visit) because my left leg muscles are giving me troubles. I actually went to Stanford Emergency on the 14th!!!  Would have liked to meet you.

We're still scheduled to head back to Palo Alto after my MRI here.

Hope moms 'estate'  (or my leg) doesn't prevent us from heading your way to visit and meet people.

I am wildly allergic to the dye used in the angiogram. I get horribly swollen (but not my airways!) and itch. The skin on my hands actually festerd.Went to an allegist here at home, and saw the nurse at Stanford MM division (Mary Marcallas -- sp?) so my condition could be recorded... and for help. Was told to avoid angiograms unless absolutely necessary.

Glad that you're doing well.

Linda
