I was diagnosed with MMD at UCLA on 11/13/08.  I was then referred to Chief of Neurosurgery, Dr. Niel Martin, to consult with him on my surgical options.  After meeting with him on 12/19/08 and reviewing the results of my angiogram he suggested I go into surgery the very next morning.  He wasn't available but put me in the highly recommended and very capable hands of Dr. Nestor Gonzalez.  

I could not have asked for a better surgeon for both my EDAS surgeries.  He was so skilled, kind and of course, so knowledgeable.  He explained everything in a way that my family and I could understand and that made us feel as comfortable as possible.  I had never been checked into a hospital before and to have it happen so suddenly was hard, but he made such a difference.  To say he had a good "bed-side manner" doesn't do him justice.  He personally came to check on me many, many times throughout the 17 days I was in the hospital.  His compassion and humble nature continually warmed my heart and his follow up has been just as amazing.

On a side note, his staff (residents, nurses, etc.) were all amazing too!!  I received excellent care at UCLA's Ronald Regan Medical Center!! I would go back there in a heartbeat for any hospital needs.
