I definitely agree. A local reporter did an article on my experience with moyamoya and all I hope is that it may help another individual or let people know that this disease actually exists. There are a lot of doctors here that still don't understand this and it has been very frustrating. Same goes with the insurance companies. They think any neurologist or neuroseurgon will do. I voted for the article and thought it was nicley written.

It was good for her to write it though and we appreciate all the votes. Hopefully it will get people talking about Moyamoya.

Well, I didn't see the post in time to vore, but in my book, Congratulations, Destin - you are already a winner, scholarship or no! You have already grown more than some people do by the time they are grandparents! Keep the faith (in yourself as well as God) and keep on perservering. Check out the book of James - I think you will like it. I hope you will keep your MM family here posted on where you go in life. Wishing you all the best!

It's been awhile.

I think I'm a bit late to vote but congratulations to Destin on a beautifully written piece.

If I understood the website correctly, she unfortunately didn't get the scholarship. I'm sorry for that; but these are all life's lessons I guess.

She didn't get that one Mark but she did get 3 others for a total of $23,000! She worked very hard for the last 4 years and these were all for her academics achievements. She did submit the essay for the $20,000 award. I think it was good for her to write it. She has avoided letting many people know what she has been dealing with.
