I feel like my whole world just collapsed

Hi everyone. When I was 10 I had a TIA. I was diagnosed with moya moya. After years of mri's and monitoring the doctor told my mom blood flow to my brain was normal due to new veins. We stopped seeing him because he was a children's speicalist and I turned 18. I'm 24 now.

What he never told us which I discovered online tonight was that it never actually gets better, it just gets worse. My for the last 5 years I have been competing in powerlifting. After my divorce its the only thing that makes me happy. Its all I am and all I have. Now I find out that my veins could have ruptured from lifting weights, or I could have had a stroke from donating blood.

I understand that I will need surgery eventually, I'm just very annoyed that my specialist as a child decided not to go through with it because I had adequate blood supply. I'm in canada so money wasn't an issue.

Will surgery ever let me lift weights? Yes it is very important to me. I was well on my way to realizing my childhood dreams of breaking records. Only to find out that I had a false sense of security with this timebomb in my head.

I'm making an appointment for an MRI asap. Although I do not think my case is that severe at the moment compared to other unfortunate children. I have been in many sports throughout high school, regularly donated blood and I have never felt dizzy.

Hello. I had a hemorraghic stroke while I was straining to move something. I know this because at that moment I had a brief loss of vision in one eye  followed by an overall weakness and "sick" feeling.  The stroke and EDAS surgery happened in 2000. I am 53 now.  After the surgery, I continued to ride my motorcycle at the race track where I had 2 accidents which left me unconscious. That was definitely absurd from all perspectives.  I took a huge risk. I hope the best for you.
